The Torah goes on to describe the lives of the patriarchs and matriarchs of the Jewish people, including Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph.

The book of Exodus describes how Moses led the Jewish people out of slavery in Egypt, and how God gave them the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai. These commandments form the basis of Jewish law and are considered to be the foundation of Western morality.
